Fall Decorating Plan
This year I started my fall decorating with a super fun fall statement wall. I was excited to do something extra creative that was still easy to accomplish. I chose to keep most of the rest of my fall decor fairly simple.
I shared my first fall home tour earlier this week with an article showcasing my modern rustic living room decorated for fall. So far, I’ve truly been enjoying the simplicity of the season.
And today I’m excited to continue that trend with a nature inspired fall mantel styled two ways.
Simplistic Fall Fireplace Mantel
Sometimes I end up decorating in stages. I started with a few mantel decor ideas that didn’t end up panning out. Everything seemed overdone to me this year. So I stripped down the mantel to bare bones and started from scratch.
The result was two simple, yet layered, fall mantel ideas. Both mantels showcase similar decor staples. The first layers fall hues like browns, orange and green for a nature inspired feel.
I love my green vintage bottles. They are my favorite fall decor staple, even though they aren’t specifically “fall”. The deep greens are so beautiful and pop off my otherwise plain mantel.
One of these days I’m going to completely redo this fireplace! Stay tuned for that project. 😉
I played around with this simpler mantel for a bit, grouping like items, and layering. But, it was feeling too plain for me. So, I added a simple fall garland and some live plants!
Layered Fall Mantel Decor
It’s amazing what a simple addition of greenery can do for a fireplace mantel. This magnolia leaf garland is my favorite garland. I use it for almost every season because it can be paired with so many different accents.
The leaves are so beautiful and leathery for a more realistic feel. It is an easy garland to get the “draped” look as well. I paired it with a few stems of my favorite faux eucalyptus to make it a little fuller and add interest.
And of course, adding live plants mixed with faux is always my favorite touch. Philodendron is the WAY TO GO! Woot! I love knowing that an indoor plant I purchase is actually going to live. I shared my favorite easy care indoor plants in this post!
I kept the same candles I used on the simpler mantel but spaced them out a bit more. Candles are the fastest way to create a cozy environment. These pillar candles are so affordable and can be used as stand-alone decor or in hurricane vases.
I love that the candles come in staggered sizes, making them ready to group together in varying heights. And for less than $6 you can’t beat the price!
Fall Mantel Sans Pumpkins
It was fun to think outside the box with this fall mantel decor. Rather than layer it with pumpkins, like I would traditionally lean towards, I wanted to make it feel more cozy with warm colors, candles, and layers.
It feels like a fall mantel I can enjoy from late summer all the way to Christmas!
Shop The Look
I hope you were able to glean some ideas for how to style your fall decor with a few different mantel decor ideas today! This is proof that you don’t have to buy a million pumpkins to create a cozy fall mantel.
